Lost Cat?

Lost Pet?

It's incredibly scary to loose a beloved pet. To have them slip out the door or window without you noticing and not return when they normally would. Thankfully our team of experts have been offering pet recovery services since 2018 and we've learned a lot along the way. Let us share some of that knowledge with you.

How do I find them, when I don't know where they've gone?

Step 1.png

We start with the basics- Indoor search!

Looking high and low, inside cabinets, behind doors, in closets, dryers, washing machines you name it... you look there! Chances are kitty is just off snuggled up somewhere having a good nap.

Be sure to check behind closed doors in case kitty got trapped in a closet or something like that. If you live in a multi home unit, like an apartment, condo or plex be sure to check with neighbors just in case kitty slipped out and into another unit.

Step 1 (1).png

Call your kitty with an auditory lure:

Once we've looked around, and still can't find them we can try and source our feline friend with an auditory lure. Usually something as simple as opening a tin can, shaking a treat container, or making a call sound that they are trained to come on command with will work. When that doesn't, we bust out our favorite call sound clip!

Step 1 (2).png

Check your camera's if you have them!

Ok if those first two steps don't reveal kitty, it's time to get serious! Let's check your camera's and see if it's possible kitty slipped out a door or window and now is out in the wild.

Once we know that kitty isn't inside our own home it's time to get serious about search and rescue tactics. Identifying quickly what access point they slipped from is one of the sure fire ways to locating them in a timely manner.

Step 1 (3).png

It's time to analyze cat behavior and pick the best method to search based on your specific circumstance!

We know research supports that strictly indoor cats behave very differently than outdoor access cats, even if that access is just a smidge throughout the day. Knowing how familiar your cat is with their outdoor world around them, is going to drastically change how to proceed with your search.

Indoor only cats tend to stay very close to home and not roam large areas. They hunker down and are usually very scared. These cats are very keen on hiding until they either feel safe enough to come out OR hit a threshold of a biological need (thirsty, hungry, lonely, etc). In indoor only cats we know the highlight search areas should be within your own property first, then your neighboring properties. With Hyper aggressive, localized and detail searches. A methodical sweep is 90% success rate in capturing your cat again.

That said, we also know that cats who have some or lots of outdoor access normally are not as fearful and tend to wander as they please more. This also goes for cats that are known escape artists, former barn/outdoor cats, and generally highly active or inquisitive kitties. For a search grid you would mark off roughly a 17 house radius for them and do a localized search.

What education and or certifications does this groomer have? or are pursing currently?
While grooming isn't necessarily a regulated field requiring a degree to get into... it is a field that allows you to see a wide variety of talents and skills. Since there are no licensing requirements it is imperative that owners take it in their own hands to research who they are trusting their kitty with!
